Measure your inseam to calculate the frame size

We recommend measuring the bike size by your inseam length. The inseam length provides more information than the body height. But it is also possible to use both measurements to find the right size. Bicycle sizes are given either in centimetres or in inches, below you will find charts with precise details. The next paragraph explains the best way to measure your inseam.

How to measure the inseam length?

Follow our instructions and measure your inseam length in just a few minutes. By the way – if someone helps you, it’s even easier 😉.

  • Have a bicycle saddle or a book with a hard cover and a measuring tape ready
  • To get an accurate result, wear only pants and measure barefoot
  • Stand straight against a wall with pedal wide legs
  • Take the saddle or book and imitate sitting on it. Do not bend your legs.
  • Keep the saddle or book in this position, help is useful during this step.
  • To complete the task, you only need to measure from the ground to the top edge of the saddle. Make sure to measure at the right angle.

What to do if no bike size fits perfectly?

You have measured your inseam length, looked at the charts but neither the one nor the other frame size fits exactly? Compare the inseam length table with the body height chart, if even this comparison does not give a clear result, there are two more tips.

Frame size tip for beginners

Are you a beginner cyclist and don’t know much about bike geometry and what it means to you? Don’t worry, there is a simple solution to get your dream bike. Bike fitters are the best people to contact if you cannot choose the right bike on your own. They will measure your body, choose the right bike and then fit it to you individually. Specialised bike shops also often offer this service.

Frame size tip for pros

On the Internet you can find data sheets with the exact geometry for almost every bike model. With a bit of know-how you can use the geometry to find out which size is best for you. For example, you can see whether the bicycle frame tends to have a longer top tube or a longer seat tube. The geometry can be influenced a little, for example by a shorter or longer stem or the saddle position.
